Retirement? Not Yet.
Looking Back While Moving Forward.

A funny thing happened on the way to retirement. I switched jobs.

Most people would say, “well, that’s not so strange, you’re only 58. You have at least 10 more years of work in you before the government and your 403B provides for retirement.” In other words, in emergency medicine changing jobs every 10 years is not a big deal.

My problem is leaving has become a big deal to me. I have been at my present job for over 20 years. I have made friends, enemies, and everything in between. All the people I have worked with are like family. The hallways are familiar, the rooms are familiar, and even the smell of the wards are familiar.
